Fresno OL commits to UW

Washington offensive line coach Brent Myers is a happy man this evening. The Huskies had already received verbal commits from three of the top OL prospects in the country in Bakersfield's Nathan Rhodes, Scottsdale's Clay Walker, and Pittsburg's Albert Toeaina and this evening received another verbal from yet another talented lineman.

Robin Kezirian, a 6-4 270 pound interior offensive lineman prospect out of Fresno, California, this evening called with some good news for Husky fans.

"I've been trying to figure out whether I want to go to Washington or Stanford. I committed to Washington today. I called (Recruiting Coordinator) Chuck Heater and then Coach Neuheisel. They were excited. Neuheisel told me, ‘that's awesome, you're where you're supposed to be.'"

"I've been wanting to come to Washington and I just decided that I didn't need to wait any longer. I've always favored them, my parents are happy," said Kezirian.

Neuheisel received Kezirian's news while at a UW basketball game on the cell phone. Neuheisel was not only treated to good news on the recruiting front, he was also treated to a UW win on the hardwood tonight as the roundball Dawgs ended a six-game skid.

Kezirian chose the Huskies because of the football program. "I'm going there to win football games. They've been good since forever, and they have the coaching staff and players that it takes to win. It's a relief to have this decision over. Everyone is pretty excited about it."

Kezirian ran a 5 flat 40 and a very impressive 4.83 shuttle at the Nike Camp this summer. He also bench pressed 185 pounds 29 times at that same camp, which opened the eyes of recruiting coordinators.

He visited Washington back on December 14th and came away impressed with what he saw. "We walked down the tunnel of Husky Stadium and it was awesome. It was a bit different than walking out of the tunnel at Stanford."

The nearby Fresno State Bulldogs also had offered Kezirian but the process is now over for the future guard/center prospect on the Washington line.

"I'll do whatever it takes to play and win with Washington," said Kezirian before he hung up the phone.
