Beall off to Stanford for final trip spoke with Coach Michael Woodward. He was named the coach of the year this season as his Mountain View High School squad went deep into the playoffs, losing to Pasco in the semi-finals. His prized pupil is OL David Beall.

Woodward told us of Beall's recruiting, "I honestly thought he would be a UW lock after the trip. It surprised David how much he liked it and it made a huge impact on him. The UW trip was so outstanding that he went ahead and cancelled Oregon State. After his visit to Seattle he pretty much boiled it down to two teams, Stanford and UW."

UW defensive line coach Randy Hart came in the following week and had a fantastic in-home visit with the Beall family. "He really took over, cracking one-liners. He is probably the best in-home guy, he's really something," said Woodward.

Although Beall had a great trip to UCLA, he still listed UW and Stanford as his leaders.

This weekend will be huge as David is on his visit to Stanford today and tomorrow. The Cardinal will be tough to beat but the Huskies are still very much in it. This trip will either make it or break it for Beall, who is an outstanding student with aspirations of majoring in Engineering.

Our prediction is that if he doesn't have a good trip to Stanford, expect him to commit to Washington soon after returning from Palo Alto. If he has a good trip, he'll be a Card.

We'll see who gets this top OL prospect.

Woodward also sent a tape to Bobby Hauck on junior James Day, a strong safety/linebacker prospect. He also played DE and running back on offense. He ran for 228 and three TDs in the game he was put at tailback. He projects as a strong safety in college. He's 6-0 190 and clocks a legitimate 4.5 already in the 40. Top Stories
