Walker waiting for LOI day

Clay Walker is a 6-4, 280-pound offensive lineman from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Horizon who is known for his prowess on the line. He received the Kush Award for Arizona prep lineman of the year. With a verbal commitment already secured by the Washington Huskies in hand, is Walker's path clear to signing day?

"Well, I told UCLA no and they weren't too happy with that," Walker told Dawgman.com today. "I'm going to Washington. I want to play for Coach Neuheisel."

Clay is already up 10 pounds from his playing days at Horizon High School, and is working hard in the offseason in preparation for next fall. "I'm working 4 days a week with my trainer right now," he said. "I'm not running right now. I'll start running in the spring. Mostly I'm doing footwork drills, things like that. I want to put on weight, but not fat."

Steve Axman had an in-home visit with the Walkers last night. "Coach Ax just came by as a checkup visit, to make sure everything was taken care up," Clay said. "We talked about signing day and what to do with UCLA, things like that."

What to do with UCLA? "Well, they are coming by for an in-home visit tomorrow. I keep telling the UCLA coaches that I found the school I want to play for but they won't take no for an answer. They are still trying, but it's a done deal. I'm going to Washington."
