Mapu has one visit left

Jonathan Mapu is a 6-4, 265-pound defensive end from Kahuku, Hawaii and Mapu is getting set to announce his college intentions, intentions that could take him anywhere from Seattle, Washington to Provo, Utah to even Knoxville, Tennessee.

"It was a lot of fun," Jonathan told tonight of his trip to BYU this past weekend. "I've been there before a lot of times, but I got a chance to see my cousin, C.J. Ah You and talk to him so that was nice."

Mapu has one more visit to take, to Tennessee, this Thursday. "I'm going to Tennessee because they have a great program," he said. "I want to check them out."

Jonathan and his family had in-home visits from BYU and Washington today. "Coach Williams, Malloe and Neuheisel all came to my house today," said Mapu. "The visit went really well and my parents really like the Washington coaches. The coaches seemed really interested in me. We talked about everything."

Included in 'everything' was the eventual mormon mission Jonathan plans on taking. "I will be taking my mission after my first year in school," he said. "All the coaches I've talked to have been fine. They have no problem with that."

And a timetable for his decision? "I think I'll make my decision right after my Tennessee trip," he said. "I'll sit down with my family and coaches and then make my decision."
