Husky head coach visits James

Kenny James, the 5-11, 205-pound running back from Dos Palos, California is almost done. With two clear choices and a standardized test coming up, things seem to be coming into focus. An in-home visit with Rick Neuheisel tonight helped clear things up even more.

"Yeah, I had a visit with Coach Neuheisel and Coach Heater tonight," James told "It went great. The focus was on basically where I stand with all the running backs they are recruiting. I already knew they were recruiting a lot of running backs, but Coach Neuheisel showed me the depth chart and where they expected me to be if I made a commitment to go there."

Kenny had spoken with Coach Neuheisel before, but this was the first chance the Head Coach had an opportunity to meet the James family face-to-face. "They thought he was a nice guy," Kenny said. "He was upfront and honest with me. My parents were impressed with that and also the fact that even though they lost their running backs coach that Coach Neuheisel was taking on that responsibility in the recruiting process."

With Washington and Fresno State clear leaders, is James still looking to visit either Arizona or Oregon? "Well, I have to take the SAT test this weekend, so it's looking like I'm not going to take a trip anymore," James said.

Even with the Husky Head Coach visiting today, Kenny didn't plan on making a decision on the spot. "Really, nothing's changed at this point," he said. "Both are great programs and both have outstanding head coaches. Who knows where it will end up right now? And it's not just what I'm looking for. It's what my family is looking for. My family really liked Washington. They think that Coach Neuheisel is a good guy and a good coach."

Does his family have an opinion on things? "My Mom wants me to go to Washington."

With the Fresno State running backs coach set to visit on Thursday, you might think Kenny would be set to decide soon after. "It may take longer than that," he said. "I like Fresno (State) and Washington a lot. It's a matter of finding where my heart is and also where my family's heart is." Top Stories
