Jones a done deal

With the last weekend of recruiting ended, Dawg fans have received a lot of good news over the last three days. One recruit who committed to the Huskies earlier this month, Lynnwood, Cal. LB Darrion Jones, took his official visit this weekend and he talked with to discuss how his visit went.

"I really enjoyed the visit," the soft-spoken Jones said. "They gave me a tour of the school and everything about he teachers and the resources around the school. It was very instructive."

Jones' host was freshman LB Dan Howell who spoke with Jones about the program and the new coaching staff.

"(Howell) is really excited about having a new coach," Jones said. "He thinks that coach (Tyrone) Willingham will turn things around."

A couple highlights Jones acknowledged were the campus and Seattle in general.

"I didn't realize there was so much water. I am not around a lot of it, so it was a surprise. But I am open to anything new."

Jones was also able to sit down with some of the coaching staff and discuss how the team plans to use him in the new defense.

"They said they see me as a strongside (SAM) linebacker," Jones said, but then quickly added: "In some situations I will play defensive end and rush the passer.

"The coaching staff just really makes you feel at home, the way they treat you. They are very nice people up there and if you have a problem you can come to them."

While on campus the coaches weighed and measured Jones and he seemed surprised at the results. "I gained some weight. They measured me at 6'2" and about 235 pounds so I will most likely be playing over the tight end."

Finally, Jones proclaimed himself off the market as far as recruiting goes.

"I figured I made the right choice and the trip up (to Washington) just reaffirmed that."
