Beach's Baisy set to sign with Huskies

DeMar Baisy is a 6-5, 225-pound linebacker prospect from Seattle (Wash.) Rainier Beach and he's a teammate of current Washington verbal commit Nate Robinson. DeMar originally verbally commited to the Washington State Cougars early on in the recruiting process, but now he's ready to sign with the hometown school.

"It's all about family, that's what it's about," DeMar told today. "This is a way I can be a bit closer to my friends and family, know what I'm saying?"

Baisy hasn't spoken to Head Coach Rick Neuheisel yet to seal the deal, but he did give his word to offensive coordinator Keith Gilbertson. "I talked to Coach Gilbertson and I told him I was coming," he said. "I left a message for Coach Neuheisel, but I haven't heard back from him yet. It's cool though. Coach Gilbertson was happy for me and he made it seem like I can make a big impact."

DeMar is being recruiting by the Dawgs to be an outside linebacker. "I'm big and strong and have nice hops (32-inch vertical jump). At 6-5, I can really get after it, like a LaVar Arrington. I feel like I can play offense too, but I can kill on defense. That's what I want to do."

And academics? "My schooling is going along good right now," he said. "I've taken the SAT test and I'm just waiting to find out how I did. I need to work on my GPA, but I think I can qualify. If I can't, they said I can greyshirt and come to school in December."

So do DeMar and Nate have any big plans for Wednesday at the 'Beach? "Nah," Baisy said with a laugh. "I'm just going to chill. Gotta go with the flow, right?"
