James decides late, but decides

Kenny James is a 5-11, 205-pound running back from Dos Palos, California and James has been struggling with a decision he made over a month ago. With a soft commitment to Coach Rick Neuheisel and the Washington Huskies already made during the first week of January, James was looking hard at another school a lot closer to home, Fresno State. So who would win out?

"I made up my mind late last night," James told Dawgman.com this morning. "I called Coach Neuheisel and didn't get a chance to talk to him but I left a message on his answering machine that I was coming to Washington."

This reconfirms the earlier commitment James had made to the Husky head coach. "I woke up this morning and I feel great," he said. "I can't wait to get to school so I can tell my coaches about my decision."

In the final analysis, it was the lure of the Pac-10 and football at the highest level that snagged James. He's reaching out with both arms to grab a dream he's had since he could hold onto a football. "I think I can come up and make an impact and we can win a Rose Bowl and a national championship," Kenny said.

Academically, Kenny has already attained partial qualifier status and is working to become fully qualified in the months ahead.
