Ross plans holiday visit to UW

This past weekend was supposed to be a big weekend for Washington football, as several highly touted California recruits were expected on campus for unofficial visits. Rancho Cucamonga (CA) CB Devin Ross was one of those recruits, but he said he and Colton (CA) LB Allen Bradford and Colton CB Shareece Wright have rescheduled their visit for the July 4th holiday weekend.

"We're heading up there on the 1st of July," Ross told "I'm looking forward to getting up there."

Ross doesn't know the area very much - something he plans to rectify while he's on campus that weekend - but still is very attracted to Washington.

"I think (head coach Tyrone) Willingham is a great coach," Ross said, explaining why he likes Washington so much. "I think he's building a good team for the future and I know they have good academics."

Ross could easily be considered a lock-down corner, at least in high school. As a sophomore he led his league in interceptions with six and that prompted quarterbacks to look the other way when passing last year. "I had 44 tackles, but I didn't get any interceptions. They threw away from me," Ross said, sounding a little disgruntled at his lack of chances to make plays.

As of now Ross has no favorites, but that will change in the near future. "I'm just trying to take in my unofficial visits right now, so that I can start narrowing down my list," Ross said. "Right now I'm hearing from most of the Pac 10, Tennessee, Purdue, Nebraska and Oklahoma."

Washington won't be the only school he and his buddies visit over the holiday weekend. "I'm hitting Oregon and Oregon State that same weekend," Ross said.

Ross has scheduled one official visit - to Nebraska on September 3rd - and plans on taking his other four before making a decision.

So what will Devin be up to for the rest of the summer?

"I finished up school last week," Ross said. "So right now I'm just going to be training and working hard, getting ready for my season."
