Elisara taking his time

The defensive line is one of the deepest units on the University of Washington football team, but that isn't stopping the Dawgs from pursuing one of the best on the west coast. Dawgman.com was able to catch up with Spokane (Wash.) Ferris defensive tackle Cameron Elisara and he updated us on where he's at in recruiting and what his plans are for the summer. He was hoping to make an early decision, but that might change as the official scholarship offers continue to mount.

"I'm hoping to make it over for camp at Washington, but I'm not sure yet," Elisara said. "If I go it will probably be Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm just trying to work out a ride with my dad."

Elisara said he isn't quite sure what camps other than Washington's he wants to attend, but that he does plan on taking some in. "I haven't decided which ones I'm headed to yet, because we have to work out rides and stuff," Elisara said.

The evaluation period saw Elisara's status shoot through the roof as he received offers from several schools across the country.

"I've got 14 offers right now," Elisara said trying to recall all the schools. "All of the Pac 10 except UCLA, Washington State and USC have offered; Nebraska, LSU, Idaho, New Mexico State, Utah, Colorado and Northwestern have offered too.

"I don't have a favorite right now, because I have a new one every day it seems like. Right now I'm trying to at least narrow it down, but I'd like to make a decision by the end of summer."

That timeline has been on Elisara's mind of late as he is getting advice to take as many visits as possible. "The more I talk to people, I'm leaning away from making a decision before the end of the summer," the big man from Eastern Washington said. "The advice I'm getting is that the visits are really helpful, so I think I'm probably going to wait and take all of my visits."

So which schools will get those all-important official visits?

"Cal is one that I want to go see, one of the Arizona schools – I'm not sure which one yet – U-Dub will probably get one too," Elisara stated. "The thing is, I want to see schools that I can't afford to take a trip to, you know, from farther away, but I also don't want to punish a school like Washington just because they are close. I just have a lot of thinking to do about where I want to visit."

Keep an eye on this player from east of the Mountains because things are sure to heat up in the very near future.
