Wright takes recruiting in stride

One of the most sought after defensive backs in the entire country hails from an area that has produced many an NFL corner. His name is Shareece Wright and he plays both running back and cornerback for Colton (Calif.) high school. With Washington's needs in a thin secondary, Wright has been getting plenty of attention from the Huskies and he updated Dawgman.com about how his season and recruiting are going.

"My season's going real good so far," Wright said proudly. "My team is 2-0 right now. We won our first game versus Rancho Buena Vista and I had four touchdowns on nine carries, 281 rushing yards, no interceptions and five tackles. I had a really good game.

"The second game, this past weekend, we beat Paso Robles 64-24. I had four more touchdowns, 210 rushing yards on 13 carries and I had a 99-yard kickoff return and four tackles."

So what has made the difference for Wright his senior season?

"I'm faster and stronger," Wright said referring to his offseason regimen. "Last year I wasn't as strong. I was really light. I didn't have too much weight on me, but this year I'm stronger than I was and more explosive."

Wright and teammate Allen Bradford are the big names for the Yellowjackets and Wright says he's been continuing to hear from a lot of schools and just raked in another offer.

"Ole Miss just offered me this past week," Wright said noting he's practically lost track of how many offers he has now. His list of offers is a "who's who" of the top programs in the country.

As far as official visits are concerned, Wright has taken one to Lincoln, Nebraska to watch the Cornhuskers face the Maine Black Bears and he just recently scheduled another visit.

"I set up a visit to go to Oregon this week. They're playing USC this Saturday," Wright said. "I'm not too sure right now about other visits."

Some of the top schools vying for one of Wright's final three official visits are Arizona, Washington, Cal, and LSU. "There are a lot of schools I want to visit, but I only get three more," Wright said.

Washington head coach Tyrone Willingham put in a call to Wright recently and the senior from southern California said Washington is still very much in the mix.

"I just got my written offer from them recently," Wright said. "I'm still very interested in Washington."

Next up for Wright and his Colton teammates are the 1-1 Crenshaw Cougars on September 23rd.
