Butler makes Pac-10 commitment

Scout.com was able to confirm through Dave Nobis, athletic director at Del Campo High School in Fair Oaks, California that Donald Butler, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound running back/linebacker, has verbally committed to Washington.

Butler was offered during Washington's summer camp, a camp where he was named defensive MVP.

He is the second player from the Sacramento area to pledge the Huskies, following Cordova's James Montgomery. Montgomery has already verbally committed to Washington.

Butler, an All-Metro second-team and All-CAL MVP pick, is considered one of the top-15 players in the area according to the Sacramento Bee. Montgomery tops that list.

Although Butler is expected to play linebacker, he had 1,504 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns, leading Del Campo to a Capital Athletic League championship.
