Junior Profile - John Markus Pinard

John Markus Pinard is a 6-5, 236-pound tight end from Bellevue, Washington, and John Markus is still basking in the glow of the Wolverine's state 3A championship win over Skyline. But don't expect to see him jumping up and down about it.

"I don't really try to openly celebrate that much," Pinard told Dawgman.com. "I'm focused on what I need to do, like my blocking assignments. I'm quiet, but on the inside I get pretty pumped up."

John Markus has a 4.87 40, and a 30-inch vertical jump to his credit. He has also repped 185 pounds on the bench 17 times. "I'm mostly a blocking tight end because of the offense we run but hopefully I'll catch some more passes this year," he said.

Pinard has plenty of personal goals he wants to reach over the summer. "I want to weigh 250 pounds," he said. "I want to get my 40 time to 4.7, my bench to 300 pounds and my squat to 500 pounds. I'm running right now, trying to get back in football shape because I'm going to the BC (Boston College) camp from June 23 to the 26th. Hopefully I'll do a good job and the coaches notice me."

John Markus will also be attending the Oregon Nike camp and perhaps the Washington camp too, but that's not confirmed. His favorites are Boston College, Washington, Oregon and Oregon State and he has heard from all of his favorites, as well as Penn State.

While looking at the Eagles might sound strange for a Bellevue guy, Pinard has familial ties there. "Well I grew up in Boston and Cape Cod," he said. "We still have a house back there. I still have lots of family there and my brother is going to BC right now. That's why BC and U-Dub are the two schools I like the most right now."
