Where is Roburt Sallie?

I was wondering that myself the other day as I was reading an article concerning the 2005-06 Husky basketball team. Roburt is the final piece of Coach Romar's 2005 recruiting class. I decided to call Tim Thomas who was one of Roburt's coaches last year at Laurinburg Prep as to his status. Tim informed me that Roburt was with them again this school year at #1 ranked The Patterson School in Lenoir, North Carolina.

As you're aware, Roburt was denied enrollment because he failed to secure a qualifying score on his entrance exams. Roburt is scheduled to take the exam again on December 10th.

I made arrangements to watch Patterson play the Italian Junior National Team on Sunday, November 13th. This was Patterson's most difficult contest to date. Patterson opened up a 19-4 lead after 4 minutes of play. The score at half-time was 57-35. Patterson went on to post a 110-72 win.

Patterson was lead by Lynwood, CA PF Davon Jefferson's 30 points and 9 rebounds. Jefferson is a likely 2006 NBA draft pick. He dazzled the crowd with powerful dunks and a soft touch from 3-point range. Davon is uncommitted should he forgo the draft and attend college.

Roburt Sallie was equally impressive posting a triple double (12 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists) from the PG position. Yes that's right, Roburt is learning the "1" (and doing quite well thank you). This certainly complies with Coach Romar's desire to be able to play multiple positions. Roburt has grown another inch (now 6'6") and added 5lbs. (now 190). He displayed the speed and quickness to play the point. He also has the wing span to cause problems for the opposition.

The biggest change I noticed was his level of confidence with which he plays and speaks. Roburt has been contacted by several schools concerning his availability but communicated to me that his commitment to Washington is rock solid. Roburt really appreciates the fact that the Husky coaching staff have been there for him through this entire ordeal. Roburt explained that everything happens for a reason. The delay has allowed him to further mature which will allow him to be productive immediately. Roburt certainly fits extremely well within the Washington system.

His plans are to join the team by this summer.
