Shelton using proactive 'attack'

Ben Shelton is a 6-5, 200-pound quarterback from Tacoma (Wash.) Lincoln and Shelton has been heading south to hone his throwing skills. He's been spending time at the Air Attack camps in Beaverton, Oregon with Taylor Barton's father, Greg, and he's not the only regional signal-caller to be seen down there.

"Yeah, I've been going to the Air Attack camp," Shelton told "They have some good coaching there and I'm learning good techniques." Ben mentioned Bethel QB Johnny DuRocher and future WSU quarterback Carl Bonnell as a couple of gunslingers that were throwing alongside him.

While that's pretty solid company, Shelton wasn't fazed at all. "I felt pretty good out there," he said. "I've got a lot of work to do but I didn't feel like I was out of my league there."

Washington State and Eastern Washington have stopped by Lincoln to check in on Shelton and he's heard personally from Dartmouth and Penn. "I'm wide open right now," Ben said. "I'd like to stay in the Northwest if I can, but I'm still wide open."

He'll be attending Washington's summer camp as well as Lincoln's team camp at Central Washington University. Top Stories
