Akeem running, jumping towards offers

Akeem Anthony is a 5-6, 160-pound running back/defensive back prospect from Lakewood (Wash.) Lakes, and Akeem is once again busy taking care of business. In the springtime he's helping the Lancers wrap up another state title, and if they do it it'll be the fourth year in a row Lakes has worn the crown.

"I'm just doing track right now," Akeem told Dawgman.com. "We've got sub-districts now and we're getting ready to win state again." Akeem helped the Lancers win sub-districts by taking a leg on the victorious 400 meter relay. He also does the long jump and triple jump, with his season bests being 21-5 and 42-9 feet, respectively, and his top 100 meter time this year has been a 11.0 hand-timed, 11.1 accutrack. "I'm trying to get down to a 10.8," he said.

Anthony has been watching with interest the comings and goings of the various football coaches seen around the Lakes campus this past week. "Washington State, Nebraska, Oregon and Nevada," he said, listing off the coaches he remembered seeing. "I did talk to a coach from Arizona State, but just for a second. He just wanted to know how I was doing, how I was doing in school." His top schools are Washington, Oregon, Arizona State and Nebraska.

Akeem took in the Huskies' spring game in April. "It was nice," he said. "We got to watch on the sidelines. Man they have some big guys!" (laughs) It's definitely different than in high school.

Anthony will be attending the Oregon Nike camp with his Lakes teammates and will also be heading down to Arizona State for their one-day camp on June 2nd. Lakes' team camp is at Eastern Washington this year. The last camp Akeem will check out will be the one at Washington.
