Is a decision near for Habben?

With only two offensive linemen committed to the University of Washington, the Husky coaching staff is concentrating on a player from across Lake Washington. Skyline (Sammamish, WA) OL Cody Habben is preparing for a visit to Montlake this weekend he spoke about how recruiting is going and a timeline for his final decision.

"I'm heading to Washington this weekend," the athletic lineman from the "Eastside" told "I just really want to go check out the school."

Habben attended several of the Huskies' home games this past season and took in numerous practices during fall camp. Washington offensive line coach Mike Denbrock and head coach Tyrone Willingham, who's son is a teammate of Habben's, are his main contacts on the team and they were in his home earlier this week.

"Coach Willingham and coach Denbrock came over," Habben said. "It was cool. I've met them before and I really enjoyed it. Coach Denbrock has come over to my school and it was nice to have both of them over.

"(Denbrock) is a cool guy. I like him a lot. I talk to him a lot and he text messages me a lot and I really enjoy talking to him."

During the fall, Habben took in visits to Arizona State (12/16), Washington State (10/14) and Iowa State (12/9) and he claims 11 offers including his four favorites (Washington, WSU, Iowa State and ASU), Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Indiana, Idaho, Colorado and Utah.

He also has a visit scheduled to Oregon State but that may not happen.

"I might have one on the 13th, but I'm not sure about that visit right now," Habben said.

Even though Washington is about a 20 minute drive from Habben's home, Iowa State has the appeal of being close to most of Habben's family.

"I have a bunch of family back there," Habben noted. "Practically my whole family lives back there. We go back there every summer. We're really the only part of our family that's moved away from Iowa or Nebraska, so I've got a lot of relatives there."

So with Washington likely being his final official visit, is there a chance that Habben could make a decision before he leaves campus this weekend?

"Maybe not this weekend, but the following week for sure," Habben said. "If (Washington) really knocks my socks off then I could, but likely next week."
