Trip report: Aaron Gant

The upper-Midwest is a fertile recruiting ground, but it is patrolled by the likes of the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes and rarely does a player leave the area without one of them getting in the mix. St. Mary Preparatory School (Orchard Lake, MI) DB Aaron Gant took a trip to Washington this weekend and he spoke with Dawgman.com regarding his trip and where recruiting heads from here.

"Everything was real likeable about the visit to Washington," Gant said. "The coaches and the players were great and they were all the highlights for me. Meeting the players and seeing how they were with each other was probably the best part."

Gant's host on his visit was Roy Lewis and because Gant had never been to Seattle before, Lewis gave him a guided tour.

"It was cool," Gant said. "I liked the city a lot and the atmosphere was nice as well. The visit was really nice. Basically it was (Lewis) and Dashon Goldson looking after me and showing me around."

Head coach Tyrone Willingham met with Gant for a while in his office and the young man from Michigan left impressed.

"We talked for a little while," Gant said. "He told me what he expected out of me and what I should expect out of him. He told me how they were trying to build their program and stuff like that. It was nice."

Gant will now visit Ohio State next weekend and expects to visit Michigan the week after that. He said he doesn't have a timetable on a decision at this point and time, but expects to make one soon after his last visit.
