NoCal NIKE camp update - Leon Drummer

If there was one lineman who turned heads at last Saturday's NoCal NIKE camp at Stanford University, it was Leon Drummer, a 6-4.5, 308 pound athlete from Berkeley (Calif.) St. Mary's. We caught up with Leon to find out his thoughts on the day, as well as how the recruiting process is going for him.

"Basically it was just endurance and speed and knowing I could do it," Drummer told "As they were saying, I was one of the top guys out here so I had to come in with the mentality that I could do it. I just came out here and worked hard to stay on top." If St. Mary's sounds familiar to Husky fans, it should. It's the alma mater for current Husky SAM Jafar Williams.

Leon ran a 5.2 40, benched 185 pounds 24 times and jumped 24 inches in the vertical leap. All the Pac-10, Colorado, Miami, Texas and Texas A&M are just some of the schools contacting Leon. He has current scholarship offers from Colorado, California, UNLV and Stanford.

"I'm keeping my choices open right now and I'll probably make my decision this summer," he said about how he's attacking the recruiting process. "I'll go visit some schools, see what's up and then make my decision. I want to make my decision early so I can get it out of the way." Top Stories
