NoCal NIKE camp report - Freddie Parrish

Freddie Parrish is a 6-0.5, 185-pound safety prospect from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly, and Freddie headed up to Palo Alto last weekend with some unfinished business to attend to. He showed up at the SoCal NIKE camp at USC, but was unable to participate. There was nothing standing in his way this time, and he made it clear who is right at the top of the list when it comes to talking about the top safeties on the West Coast.

"I expected to go one-on-ones a little longer," Parrish told Dawgman.com about his impressions of the camp. "It was alright. You only got 4 reps in, but that's how it goes. I would rather go one-on-ones for a while and have the coaches regulate how long the quarterbacks get to throw the ball." (laughs)

Freddie ran a 4.5 40, but it was his 4.0 in the pro agility test that caught the immediate attention of the college coaches in attendance. "I was pleased," he said of his shuttle time. "I heard it was the best at the camp, so I'm pleased."

Parrish caught us up to speed on the latest regarding his recruitment. "Pretty much the same but Arizona State has offered and Washington State has offered," he said. "I just got back from Notre Dame yesterday." His list of official offers is outstanding this early in the process - Stanford, Notre Dame, Oregon State, Washington State, Washington and Arizona State have all tendered scholarship offers to Freddie.

But he's not too worried about that right now. He's more concerned about taking care of business. "I'm ready to play football, I cannot wait," he said. "You know the two special games. Kahuku, of course, but De La Salle. I'm ready for De La Salle. They had a receiver that was out here talking a little bit. It's all fun."

Poly plays Kahuku as part of a double-header with De La Salle and Saint Louis in September and the Jackrabbits and Spartans get it on at Berkeley October 12th.
