NoCal NIKE camp update - Bobby Whithorne

Bobby Whithorne is a 6-0.5, 167-pound receiver prospect from Coto de Caza (Calif.) Santa Margarita and while he isn't a big receiver in the Randy Moss-Reggie Williams mold that everyone seems to crave nowadays, he has the capability to be just as effective.

"Catching balls, making plays, speed, accelerating...just doing everything right," Bobby told after the NoCal NIKE camp was complete last Saturday at Stanford University when asked about his best traits as a football player. "Catching balls with my hands is my best quality. My route running, my crisp breaking, making big plays."

Whithore ran a 4.59 40, 4.11 shuttle and jumped 30 inches in the vertical leap. Last year he caught 50 passes for 650 yard and scored 4 times for the Eagles. His playmaking ability have earned him some notice by Pac-10 schools, notably Washington, USC, UCLA and Oregon. Whithorne has no offers yet.

"Coach (Brent) Myers came by my school," Bobby said. "He came out to spring practice and he enjoyed it a lot. He called me that night and said that I had a phenomenal day and that he really enjoyed my play."

Washington, UCLA, Stanford and Notre Dame are his current leaders. Top Stories
