NoCal NIKE camp update - Charles Owens

Charles Owens felt that once wasn't enough, so the 6-3, 275-pound lineman from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly joined his Jackrabbit teammates on a road trip to Stanford last weekend to participate in the NoCal NIKE camp. It was a good thing he did, because as well as he did at USC, he arguably did even better in Palo Alto.

"Basically doing the regular drills that we do in high school, passing blocking, pull blocking, turned out to be really good this time," Owens told about his day working with the other offensive linemen. "I just learned to have more teamwork, working with guys I'd never seen before. Just learning to communicate better on the field."

Charles was definitely one of the focal points of the camp-ending one-on-one drills, going head-up with De La Salle's Erik Sandie to finish the day. It was a possible precursor of things to come, as the Jackrabbits take on the Spartans in Berkeley this coming October. "I always enjoy myself, hype it up a little so we can have more competition," Owens said.

On the recruiting front, Charles still professes a top-5 of Colorado, Florida State, Oregon, Michigan and Notre Dame. Top Stories
