Sedillo makes good on word

He told Tyrone Willingham he was going to do it, and then he did. caught up with Matt Sedillo, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound offensive lineman from Orange Glen High School in Escondido, Calif., on Wednesday, and Sedillo passed along the good news; he had verbally committed to Washington Monday night.

"They offered me a scholarship last night," Sedillo said. "I talked to Coach Willingham. He said that there was a reason why we had you on the visit, so I'm offering you a full-ride scholarship."

And Sedillo's response? "Sign me up!

"He (Willingham) said that I was glad that I made the decision, but he knew I would. I told him on the trip that if they offered me, I would commit."

Before his official visit to Washington this past weekend, Sedillo looked to be heading to Weber State for college, but now that has all changed. His family is thrilled with the decision. "They are really proud," Sedillo said. "My Dad was speechless. They are so happy that Coach Willingham is going to give me an opportunity. But it really hasn't hit me yet. I'm more focused right now on busting my ass and getting ready for college."

Will Sedillo take any more trips? "This is it, I'm done. I'm so glad. For a while, I wasn't sure what was going to happen and it was nerve-wracking."

When asked if he had any words for Washington fans, Sedillo said, "I don't have any catchy phrases or anything."

That's OK, Matt. You can do your talking in the trenches.
