NW NIKE camp report - Akeem Anthony

Akeem Anthony is a 5-4, 151-pound RB/DB prospect from Lakewood (Wash.) Lakes, and Akeem made the trip from Lakewood to Eugene last weekend to attend the NW NIKE camp along with teammates Viliamu Kuaea, Anthony Russo and Jeff Wells. Anthony is known as a serious jitterbug with incredible cutting skills, and he demonstrated those cuts on the practice fields at the University of Oregon.

"Most people say I run like Barry Sanders because I can make people miss and I'm real quick," Akeem told Dawgman.com after camp was complete. He ran a modest 4.5 40 ('not by best time'), a 3.99 shuttle, repped 185 pounds 15 times and had a vertical leap of 32.6". All those marks are very solid, but Anthony was especially pleased with the shuttle. "That's my best time," he said. "I'm happy with that."

Oregon, Washington, Arizona State, Idaho and Nevada headline the list of schools that have expressed the most recruiting interest towards Akeem. "I talked to Coach (Randy) Hart at U-Dub, Idaho, Idaho State, the Arizona State coach... that's about it," he said.

This camp was just another step for Akeem. He's lining things up so he can be 100 percent by the time football rolls around in the fall. "I'm just trying to get better for the season, get a 2000-yard season," he said. "Just trying to get better every single day. I'll be coming out 100 percent and nobody can stop me. Don't look at my height. My heart is what it's all about."
