Russo getting early offers

Anthony Russo is a 5-11, 185 pound athlete from Lakewood (Wash.) Lakes, and Russo was the top running back at the Northwest NIKE camp in Eugene, Oregon, at least if you took an informal poll of the NIKE coaches in attendance. He showed great cutting skill, agility and acceleration. A couple of schools in the region have also been paying attention to Anthony, as shown by the scholarship offers he now enjoys.

"I think I did well at the Nike camp and the University of Oregon camp," Russo told in an update. "I enjoyed both camps and learned a lot. I was also surpised to hear I impressed a few coaches. That was nice to hear. I am still working hard and trying to become better."

Russo ran a 4.5 in the 40, 4.0 in the shuttle, benched 16 reps of 185 pounds and jumped 32 inches in the vertical leap.

Anthony received some great news upon returning from the camp. "The University of Montana called my coach (Dave Miller) and officially offered me a full ride," he said. "I will also be getting a letter from them that has the offer.

This offer is the second one Russo has received this spring. Earlier, the University of Idaho extended a ride. Anthony is eyeballing those two schools closely, as well as the four northwest Pac-10 colleges. Top Stories
