Morrow stalwart on DL

Alex Morrow is a 6-6, 260-pound lineman from Rohnert Park (Calif.) Rancho Cotate and the first-team all-league and all-empire pick wants to get his shot as a defensive lineman in college. With his ethic and desire, it shouldn't be a problem for Morrow and with three Pac-10 scholarship offers under his belt already, chances are very good he'll be getting his chance.

"I'm hoping I can play defensive line," Alex told "I just work harder than everybody else out there. I have goals I want to reach and I'll do whatever it takes to get there."

He's already well on his way toward achieving one goal. "I want to play D1 in college," he said. "And then I want to get a chance to play in the NFL." Colleges have been paying close attention to Morrow this spring. Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, UNLV and Arizona State have been showing Alex the most love lately, with the Huskies, Ducks and Wildcats offering full rides.

Those offers fit right in line with what Morrow has been looking for. "I plan on playing in the Pac-10, no matter what," he said. Here's what he said about the three schools that have stepped up with offers.

Oregon - "I really like the quality of their football."

Washington - "The quality of their football and their academics. They are a tier-1 school."

Arizona - "I like the location, and they are a good school too."

Morrow plans on getting plenty of input from his parents when making his final decision. "I'm not ready to make a decision at this point," he said. "My parents are going to be helping me. I'm going to take trips and do research."

The official visits he's planning to take include Washington, Oregon, UCLA and Arizona. Until then, he's just taking care of business off the field in anticipation of the season ahead. "I'm working out twice a day right now," he said. Alex did not attend any camps this summer. Top Stories
