Huskies offer two from Nevada

It's clear that the Washington football coaches have finished their spring evaluations on some players, as news of scholarship offers is coming out. The latest news came out Friday afternoon, as David White, Head Coach from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nev., informed that the Huskies had offered two of his players. Here are their stories, including video.

Po'u Palelei is a 6-foot-4, 335-pound OL/DL prospect from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nev., and Po'u is just the next in line in what has become an annual rite of passage for the Gaels. For the past two years, BG has had a U.S. Army All-American; first with linebacker Ryan Reynolds, and then with running back DeMarco Murray. Murray is set to join Reynolds at Oklahoma - does that mean Palelei might join them?

He might, especially with a Sooner offer already on the table, according to Bishop Gorman Head Coach David White, but a better bet has Palelei staying within earshot of the west coast, where Arizona, Washington, Oregon State, Arizona State, Oregon and BYU have also offered. The Huskies are the latest to offer, letting White know on Friday that they were pulling the trigger.

Texas Tech and Texas A&M round out the known list of offers for Palelei, whose uncle Lonnie was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and played for Philladelphia, NY Jets, NY Giants and the Baltimore Ravens, and one of his cousins is Simi Fili, who is a top high school prospect in his own right at Cottonwood High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Arizona, Washington, Oklahoma, Arizona State and Oregon are Palelei's top-five schools. He plans on taking unofficial visits to Arizona and Arizona State this summer with teammates Corey White and Drew Bernhardy in tow, but will spend the majority of his summer making sure he is a slam-dunk academically for the following school year.

#72 Left Tackle/Defensive Tackle Po'u Palelei:
Corey White is a 5-foot-9, 200-pound running back from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nev., and after earning 865 yards on just 68 carries for the Gaels in 2005, colleges are starting to really take notice.

In fact, the same day they officially offered BG lineman Po'u Palelei, the Washington Huskies also offered White. I figured (the offer for) Po'u was already happening but for Corey it's huge," said Bishop Gorman Head Coach David White (no relation), who also said that the offer vaults the Dawgs onto the top of Corey's recruiting wish list. "He is excited and will be at the (Washington) camp June 29th - July 1st."

Colorado State, Boise State, Idaho and Colorado have already offered, and Oregon State and California are showing Corey a lot of interest, according to White.
