News from Bellevue: BBQ makes you thinner

Jeff Dicks, younger brother of UW offensive lineman Dan Dicks, updated us on how he's preparing for his upcoming season as a Bellevue, Washington Wolverine. Believe it or not, nothing helps you prepare for conquering the gridiron like some good, old-fashioned B-B-Q. Just ask Jeff.

"I dropped some weight, so I'm down to around 240 because I'm going to play linebacker this season," the 6-3 Dicks told Dawgman.com. Jeff explained the move as a coaching decision based upon a need at linebacker. Still, he's excited about the move and has been busy working on his new figure by hitting Bellevue barbecues on Wednesday nights for all-you-can-eat ribs. It's a family thing for the Dicks, as Dan has also been known to throw down a rib or two.

Dicks tripped to the Washington State full-contact camp, and Oregon's one-day lineman camp earlier this summer. And like River Ridge's Chad Sutter, Jeff has also been working with Steve Emtman at Gotz2 sports. "It's fun to work out with Steve," he said. "He definitely pushes me harder than normal."

Look forward to a big senior season from Dicks and for his defending state champion Bellevue Wolverines.
