Rogers QB of the future?

Gary Rogers is a 6-4, 200-pound quarterback prospect from Mukilteo (Wash.) Kamiak and Gary is about to enter a zone he's not all that familiar with - big-time high school football. There are three junior-to-be quarterbacks that have distinguished themselves this summer - Rogers, Castle Rock's Kyle Carson and Bethel's James Wright. Is Rogers the best of the three? This coming season will go a long way toward answering that question.

"This will be my first full year of varsity football," Rogers told "I'm just looking forward to hitting my receivers and scoring a lot of touchdowns." He's been laying the foundation this summer, earning a spot on the all-tournament offensive team at the Big Kahuna 7-7 Passing Challenge as a sophomore. He runs the 40 in 4.8 and benches 185 pounds 5 times.

Rogers inherits a pretty stacked group of offensive talents this year, and is not shy at all about stating his goals. "I want to take my team all the way and win state," he said. Derrick Bradley, Mark McClure, Sam Himmelman, Bobby Dockter and Whitney Wilson will give Gary some serious firepower. With Johnny DuRocher and Carl Bonnell providing inspiration and precedent, watch for Rogers and the Kamiak Knights to turn some heads this fall. Top Stories
