Aldrich says he's close to a decision

One of the top players and most highly-recruited from the islands this fall has been Kamehameha DE Kalani Aldrich and he was in Seattle this past weekend on an official visit. He had a great time on his trip and he told that he's very close to making a decision.

"Oh man it was a great visit," Aldrich told "I had so much fun and it just blew me away.

"It was crazy, the first day we were there we went up to the top of the Space Needle and it was just really beautiful. I didn't realize it was rotating so I was getting dizzy early on and then I realized it was moving and then it was ok."

Aldrich was hosted by a senior who will not be on campus next year, which is a rarity, but a prior relationship made it the ideal situation for him.

"Brandon Ala and I are like brothers," Aldrich said. "We come from the same school and he's known my family for a long time. He was a senior when I was in 7th grade so he sorta took me under his wing back then.

"I hung out a lot with the Poly boys and Daniel Te'o-Nesheim. He is from the same island as me and that was cool. We hit it off pretty quickly."

Aldrich said his family also accompanied him on the trip and that his parents loved the visit as well.

"My mom and dad both came because they came with me to Oregon for camp and stuff and they wanted to compare that trip to something," Aldrich said. "They really loved Washington a lot."

During his visit, Aldrich said he was close to making a decision, but decided against it.

"I almost did, but I decided to come home and think about it for a couple days," Aldrich said. "Earlier this fall, I was thinking I would visit Tennessee, Oklahoma and Arizona too, but Oregon and Washington were exactly what I was looking for, so I think I'm done with my visits.

"I'll think about it for a couple days and then make a decision. Coach (Chris) Tormey is coming down on Tuesday so that should help firm up things a little bit."

We'll have more from Aldrich this week as he expects to decide within the next four or five days.
