"It went really well," Ballman said of his official visit. "Everywhere we went, it was really nice. I liked everything."
Sean Douglas was Ballman's host. "He said he loved kicking there," Ballman said. "He said that the wind picks up there sometimes and it doesn't work to our advantage, but overall it's great and it's been the best experience he's ever had."
Colleges like Arizona, California and Louisville were serious about Ballman, but only Washington stepped up with a scholarship in writing. "I committed to U-Dub, and I'm signing my letter of intent on the 20th, I believe. It's going to be a mid-year deal."
Once Ballman signs with the Huskies, he's expecting to be on campus in March, right before spring practice starts.
What did the Huskies see that maybe others missed? "They really liked my tape," Ballman said. "I can really pin it deep inside the 20 and I had a good average." Ballman had a 44.7 yard average per kick.
The Huskies are recruiting Ballman with the idea that he'll punt first, but they let him know that he could compete for the kicking job as well.
