Trip Report: Chike Amajoyi

The Huskies are looking for versatile playmakers who can play on either side of the ball and Aquinas (San Bernardino) RB/LB Chike Amajoyi is at the top of their list as we get closer to signing day. He spoke with recently about his visit and said he's getting close to making a decision.

"I loved my trip up there," Amajoyi said. "It was a great trip and a great campus. My favorite thing on Friday was my one-on-one with coach (Tyrone) Willingaham. It was great just being on campus and sitting with him in his office and really just talking with him and having him answer all of my questions.

"They also took us to the Space Needle and I liked that a lot. Being up there so high was great. Most of the guys seemed okay with the height, but when they found out it rotates they weren't too thrilled about that."

Donald Butler was Amajoyi's host on his trip and the two bonded during his 48-hours in Seattle.

"He's a lot like me actually," Amajoyi said. "He played linebacker too although he's a little bigger than me. We have the same interests and we're both from California. He's a real humble guy and he works hard."

Amajoyi is very interested in Washington for their football program, but he's also a big fan of their Medical School as well.

"I got to visit the hospital on Saturday and go to the basketball game," Amajoyi recalled. "The Hospital was better than I thought. Just getting to see the facitilities with the brand new stuff and the medical equipment was pretty amazing.

"I liked the game a lot. Those guys can shoot."

Amajoyi has his official visit to Stanford this coming weekend and said he will be comparing his time in Palo Alto to his trip to Montlake.

"My timetable is the make my decision the week after my in-home visits," Amajoyi said. "Before my visit I didn't really have a read on Washington very much, but after being up there and seeing how great it is, both Washington and Stanford are even.

"When I go up to Stanford it's going to have to be better than my trip this weekend to choose them over Washington."

We'll have more from Amajoyi next week after the coaches of both schools visit him and his family at home.
