Valencia back still waiting on Troy

Valencia, California's multi-threat back, Charles Burnley, is one of several players in the Golden State looking toward the Emerald City with an early commitment in mind. So what's been on Burnley's recruiting platter since September 1st?

"Washington and USC are still in the lead for my choice," the 6-0, 175-pound Burnley told "I'm also starting to like Fresno State, and Oregon State, and Oregon, and Washington State." His three offers remain the same, tendered by Washington State, Oregon State, and the University of Washington.

And while Burnley is still waiting on Southern Cal to make an offer, Washington coach Bobby Kennedy is making considerable headway with this talented spread-offense slasher. "He just told me he thinks I'm a great athlete and a wonderful running back and that he would love to see me up there at Washington," he said. "He said that they're really in search for a running back, a young running back, and that I would fill the spot perfectly."

Burnley and Coach Kennedy discussed possible visit dates, but no date was set, Burnley said. Top Stories
