Noble says Washington is still on top

It's been a wild month for Taft DT Craig Noble. He committed to Washington shortly after they offered at the end of April and then had a tremendous day at the Combine held in Los Angeles. After word got out about his performance schools from across the country stepped up their recruitment of and while the attention has been nice, Noble says Washington is still on top.

"It's been pretty crazy," Noble said. "My cell phone has been shut off because of all the calls I was getting. It was pretty hectic."

In addition to Washington's offer, Mississippi offered the same week and Washington State and Florida International extended offers shortly after his performance in Los Angeles.

"USC and UCLA said when I go to their camp, as long as I perform how they expect me to, they will offer me too," Noble said. "They both just said they wanted to see a little bit more of me and that's why I'm going to their camp."

Even with the increased attention, Noble said Washington still has his verbal commitment.

"I'm still looking around, but I haven't retracted my commitment to Washington," Noble said, adding that he wanted to be considered a soft verbal at this point. "Coach (Chris) Tormey called me on the 30th (of May) and we talked about my grades and he wanted to make sure I was staying on top of everything because kids have a tendency to slack off this time of year with the nice weather.

"I told him not to worry, that I'm totally focused on them. He also wanted me to know they want me to come in and play right away. They are losing a few guys from the tackle spot and I could go in there and contribute and compete right when I get there.

"That's a big reason I like Washington State and UCLA because they have the opportunity to do that too."

Noble said Washington has always been his favorite school and that he plans to be on campus at the end of June to take a look at the first school to offer him.

"Washington has always been my number one school," Noble said. "I love the coaches and they have a chance to do some really good things soon and I'd like to be a part of that.

"I just need to check out these other schools and see which fits me the best. I'll decide before school starts so I can just concentrate on my season."
