Baisy getting academics in order

Dawgman.com briefly spoke today with DeMar (Fred) Baisy, a 6-5, 225-pound athlete from Seattle (Wash.) Rainier Beach. Baisy originally signed with Washington in February, but didn't qualify academically. He's now taking two classes, including a Spanish class and is also preparing to retake the SAT soon. He's not that far off and expects to enroll this winter.

"I'm 10 points off," DeMar said today. "That's all I need, plus my classes." The Husky coaches have stayed in touch with Baisy. "Coach Gilbertson calls me. They said I've got tickets to this weekend's game (against) Wyoming, so I'm probably going to go."

DeMar is still working out while he continues to get his academics in order. "I work out at the Gateway Athletic Club," he said. "I see some people there I know, like Bull Stewart and the (Stewart) twins."

Baisy, while being able to play on either side of the ball, was recruited as an outside linebacker for Washington and expects to play that position in the spring, provided he enrolls in January. We will continue to bring news on DeMar when it becomes available.
