Huskies still atop of Bronson's list

He's widely considered the best running back in the state of Washington this year and Kentwood's Demitrius Bronson has proved that with several outstanding performances along the camp circuit this spring. Dawgman.com was able to catch up with the hard-running Bronson recently and he talked about recruiting and his plans for the rest of the summer and his senior season.

"I've had a good spring," Bronson told Dawgman.com. "Lots of schools were by to see me and I've gone to a few camps and done really well."

Bronson's performance in Tempe at the Arizona State camp garnered him "Top Back" honors and really seemed to impress the new Sun Devils staff.

"They said they liked how I did and how aggressive I was at hitting the hole," Bronson said. "They said they were surprised I was as quick as I was because I tend to be more of a one-cut and go sort of guy."

Bronson also did well at the Oregon and Cal camps too.

"It was cool getting down and competing against some of those guys down there," Bronson said. "They have some really good athletes there and they really get after it. It was a lot of fun."

Washington remains Bronson's only offer and he said he's still very high on the Dawgs at this point.

"I like U-Dub a lot," Bronson said. "Of course my mom loves them because she wants me to stay pretty close, but she said she'll support me wherever I go. I know where she wants me to go and I really feel like I have a good connection with the coaches and I like their style of play.

"Coach (Mike) Denbrock text's me a lot and we talk a lot. I would say they're my leader right now, but I still want to wait and see if any other schools decide to offer me."

Bronson will also hit the Penn State camp later this week and he said, while the Nittany Lions are his older brother's alma mater, he's not expecting them to offer anytime soon.

"They are a really good school and a traditional power, but they haven't been in touch that much and I'm not really that high on them right now," Bronson said. "I'm already really familiar with things out there, but I wanted to go out and see how I could do against some of those east coast kids because I've been going against the best out here at the camps I've been to."

As far as a decision, Bronson said he'd like to wait, but he is hoping to make one sooner rather than later.

"I would like to decide before my season starts," Bronson said. "It would just help me to stay focused on what I need to do and it would just be a load off my mind.

"But I really want to make the right decision and not regret it, so I'll decide when I'm comfortable. I hope that's before the season."

Goals are another big thing for Bronson and he said he's set some for this season.

"I want to have a big season, but not individually," Bronson said. "Our goal last year was to get to the playoffs and we did, but I didn't want to be out so quickly.

"This year, that just won't cut it. We need to go deep and I want to have a chance to lead us to a championship. I think we have enough players to do it. My stats will come, but I want us to get even more than that under our names."

We'll have more from Bronson in the coming weeks.
