Lakes athlete looking for a challenge

Lakes thumped Highline 87-0 last Friday, as the dynamic duo of Akeem Anthony and Anthony Russo combined for 7 touchdowns. The 5-5, 160-pound Anthony knows that the competition will continue to get better, but right now it doesn't get much better than this.

"We were just dominant," Akeem told Dawgman.com of the Lancers' dismantling of Highline. Their next game is against Evergreen. Anthony rushed 7 times for 132 and 4 scores, including a 86-yard return on the opening kickoff of the game.

Coaches from around the West have been paying attention to the diminutive athlete from Lakewood, and one school has stepped up with an offer. "I just got off the phone with Idaho State," Anthony said, and the Bengals have offered Akeem a full scholarship to play football in Pocatello.

Washington, Oregon State, Oregon, Arizona State and Nevada are the other schools that have been calling Anthony since September 1st. He went to the UW-SJS game and will also be going to the UW-Wyoming game Saturday night.

Coach Randy Hart is the coach recruiting Akeem for the Dawgs. "He talked to me about how he would like to see more of me," Anthony said. "He told me that he would keep me informed about how they are recruiting me and that they are going to be upfront and honest."

He doesn't have any trips set up yet, but feels confident he'll trip to Washington and Oregon State for sure.
