Ellis is thinking BIG

All high school football players look to score 5 touchdowns in a game, but how many actually achieve that lofty ambition? Well, Dawgman.com talked to one player who already has one of those games under his belt and it only took him one try. His name? Cody Ellis.

Ellis' 5 scores and 307 all-purpose yards came against Sumner. Cody said Puyallup wasn't sure what Sumner was going to throw at them, and it's clear Sumner wasn't ready to deal with the Ellis Express. "They have a new coach and new system, so we didn't know what to expect," he told Dawgman.com tonight. "I just wanted to get the ball in my hands and maybe I could make something happen. It was awesome. Hopefully it will get people's attention and I can use it to build confidence for the season."

The Vikings play Emerald Ridge Friday night. Emerald Ridge has a pretty solid receiver in their own right - Steve Manning.

In the recruiting race, two schools have stepped up their interest in Ellis. "U-Dub and Oregon, they are the schools calling the most," Cody said. "Also some smaller schools, like Idaho State, Portland State, Nevada and Montana. A coach from Nevada and also from Oregon are coming by school tomorrow to watch film with my coach. When I talked to Coach (Randy) Hart, he told me that I had an awesome game on Friday and that Coach (Bobby) Hauck would be coming to my game tomorrow." Nobody has stepped up with an offer yet, but it's looking now like a matter of time before somebody pulls the trigger.

Cody will be going to Husky Stadium Saturday night. "I was supposed to go to the San Jose State game a couple of weeks ago, but we had practice," he said. "I'm going to the Wyoming game Saturday night."
