Pinard suffers injury

John Markus Pinard is a 6-5, 240-pound tight end from Bellevue, Washington and John Markus had every reason to believe that he could have a monster season for the returning state 3A champs. He worked out this summer like a madman and while the Wolverine's bread and butter is the run, Pinard felt confident he could be a big part of Bellevue's potent offensive attack. And then he got hurt.

"I hurt my shoulder against Bothell at the Jamboree a couple of weeks ago," Pinard told Dawgman.com. "I'm out until the third game of the season against Issaquah. It's frustrating sitting on the sidelines. It's definitely not how I wanted my senior season to go, but I just have to keep working hard. I have to keep proving myself."

There have been four schools that have called John Markus since September 1st - Oregon, Portland State, Holy Cross and Middlebury. "Holy Cross is Division 2 and Middlebury is Division 3," said Pinard. "They don't have scholarships, but have offered spots on their teams if I want to play for them. Both Oregon and Portland State want to see tapes of my senior season and they've talked about coming to see me play."

No offers yet for Pinard, but he's hopeful something might materialize from one of the Oregon schools. "I'll probably take a trip to Oregon but a lot depends on what schools see on my tape," he said.
