Edwards a renaissance player

Ted Edwards is a 6-2, 225-pound athlete from Kelso, Washington and Edwards is a special kind of player. He plays offense. He plays defense. He scores touchdowns. He aces tests. He has schools from the left and right coasts checking him out. And he's not satisfied even after a win.

Kelso beat North Kitsap 25-7, but Edwards wasn't happy. Granted, he had three touchdowns on offense, running for 79 yards on 12 carries and also caught 65 yards worth of passes. On defense he had 7 solo tackles, 4 QB hurries, 1 sack and 1 pass deflection. "We need to do better though," he told Dawgman.com. "We had too many fumbles."

Ted, while making sure he takes care of business this year, is also looking to the future. Just this month, Harvard, Brown, Dartmouth, Princeton, Washington State and Idaho have all called asking about him. Brown and Harvard were the two calls that stood out, and as long as Edwards maintains his 4.0 GPA he'll keep getting attention from the Ivy League.

Edwards doesn't have any Division-1 offers but has procured a couple of Division III offers. That's not good enough. "I want to play Division-1 football," he said. "We're talking about official trips. Definitely Harvard, Washington and Oregon. And Florida State if I can. It's always been a dream of mine to play for them. I've always been a big fan of Florida State. I have family down there and that's where my Mom's from. I try to keep in contact with them. My Mom talked to Coach Lilly this summer."

He went to the Washington State - Nevada game, and might go to the Montana State game in Pullman this weekend. Ted is also planning on hitting the Civil War later this year. We'll be keeping in touch with Edwards as the recruiting process heads toward February.
