Katz gets offered by Dawgs

Washington extended its fourth known offer to a quarterback today when they decided that Santa Monica's Ryan Katz was worth of a full ride. Dawgman.com got in touch with the athletic signal-caller shortly after he received his official offer from the Huskies and he said he's excited by the opportunities that are laying in front of him.

"It's been a pretty hectic last few days," Katz said with a chuckle. "Oregon and Oregon State just offered me after I went to their camps and then today, about an hour ago actually, coach (Tyrone) Willingham called me and told me they like me and they were sending me an offer in the mail."

Katz also has offers from Wyoming, Utah, San Jose State and Air Force and he said he's just thankful he's going to have some big choices to make.

"When I started this I wasn't sure if anyone would offer me, but I was confident that if I went out there and did what I thought I could do that I would get some offers," Katz said. "Getting these offers is pretty big because now I have some really good schools to choose from."

Katz said other schools have also begun to heat up their interest in him including Boise State, Arizona State, Nevada and Stanford. However, the Huskies have shown the most interest recently and he's returned that interest by doing some research on the Washington program.

"I didn't know a lot about them, but I've gone online and I see they are a great academic institution," Katz said. "I think they are in the top 20 schools in the country and that's a big thing for me and my family.

"I'd like to get up there for camp, but I just don't think I can do that so I'll probably head up there for their 'senior day' on August 4th to check everything out."

Katz said he doesn't have a timeline for a decision and said he's still wide-open, but that the Huskies are high on his list.

"This offer is great because I would like to play Pac 10 if the situation is right," Katz said. "They are a school I will be looking at pretty hard while I make my decision."

We'll have more from Katz in the very near future.
