Number-one JC back interested in UW

Sean Cherico, Defensive Line Coach and Head Strength Coach at Coffeyville Community College, talked to us about the number-one JC running back prospect in the country - Brandon Jacobs. At 6-4 and 255 pounds, this kid has to be seen to be believed, and count the Husky coaches as believers.

"He's a load at 6-4, 255, and we've clocked him at 4.49 in the 40," Cherico told "He's a legit 4.5 guy. He runs kind of high - straight up and down power guy like Eric Dickerson was. He hasn't had a great season, he's had some injuries. In the opener he rushed for 158 yards in the first half but hurt himself on the first carry of the second half. Against Dickenson he rushed for 205 yards, and had 98 yards this past week. We are the number one rushing JC team in the country."

He has two years of eligibility remaining, and has three years to complete it. He signed an LOI with Auburn Univeristy out of Assumption High School in Napoleonville, Louisiana but didn't qualify. He'll graduate in December with a current GPA of 3.3.

"What he's telling me Auburn is where he's wanted to go for a while, but I know Washington is in the mix," Cherico said about the Huskies' run at Jacobs. "Coach (Rick) Neuheisel has been in contact with him. Eddie Jackson got on the phone with him. Nebraska likes him, too. He can pretty much pick and choose wherever he wants to go to school."

Cherico feels Jacobs' upside is unlimited. "Brandon is a very good kid and if he stays healthy he'll have an opportunity to play on Sundays," he said.
