Boyles almost a Dawg

It was one of the biggest disappointments of the summer when the Washington Huskies found one of their top incoming freshmen -- Serra WR Anthony Boyles -- was unable to obtain a qualifying score on the SAT. That disappointment has turned to borderline excitement today as Boyles informed head coach Tyrone Willingham that he got his qualifying score.

Boyles and Devin Aguilar, another wide receiver, both retook their tests on September 15th and while Aguilar received his score on Thursday morning, it wasn't until Friday morning that Boyles found out he had reached his goal of getting that qualifying score.

"Man it was so crazy," Boyles told Dawgman.com as he was celebrating with friends. "It was just a big relief to know that I did what I said I was going to do."

Boyles almost immediately called Willingham to inform him of the good news.

"He was really happy for me and said that they need to make sure things are all set for January," Boyles said. "I'm going to get a job, work out and get everything set up for January 4th. I'll be heading up there right after Christmas basically."

Now Boyles and the Huskies will wait while the NCAA Clearinghouse combs through his transcripts and test scores for final approval, but it appears he's headed north to become a Husky.

We'll continue to track Boyles' progress for the next few months and keep you updated with developments.
