Cannon looks to pull in more offers

One of the more unsung playmakers in the state of California is Archbishop Riordan (San Francisco) S/WR Daniel Cannon. He's been a standout on both sides of the ball for the Crusaders as a senior and he spoke with recently about recruiting and what position he sees himself playing at the next level.

"I like to hit so I think safety is going to be where I end up," Cannon told "That's where most of the schools that are recruiting me have been telling me they like me."

From his free safety position, Cannon has amassed 52 tackles in five games and has two interceptions as well. On offense, Cannon has been even more deadly, hauling in 28 receptions for 590 yards and six scores as well.

"I love to play the game so wherever I can help the team, the better," Cannon said. "I play wide receiver, safety and I'm a kick returner as well."

On the recruiting front, Cannon has one offer under his belt and he said three other schools have piqued his interest enough that he hopes to get out to visit them in the near future.

"Arizona is my only offer right now," Cannon said. "LSU, Cal and Washington are the other schools that have showed me the most interest.

"Coach (Joe) Robinson from Arizona talks to me a lot and I feel comfortable with him. Coach (Bob) Gregory, the defensive coordinator for Cal, told me he likes me a lot and that he wants me to play free safety for them, but they haven't offered yet, but I think they may be getting close to doing that."

Cannon said Washington and LSU are schools he hopes to take unofficial visits to before their seasons end.

"Washington hasn't talked to me a lot lately, but they are still a school I'm talking to my parents about checking out," Cannon said. "LSU is so good and they have a great program. We want to get out there to check them out as well.

"Basically, all the schools recruiting me told me they want me to get the SAT taken care of so I will take the next one (November 3rd) and then I can start setting up official visits and stuff like that."

Riordan is currently 4-1 and they will take on Serra this Friday.
