Golden taking long look at Dawgs

It came to light a few weeks ago that Edison (Fresno) CB Robert Golden, one of the top corners in the country, was considering some other schools even though he committed to Arizona this past May. caught up with the shut-down corner and he talked about his interest in Washington and how his season has progressed so far.

"We're doing really well," Golden said as he relaxed on Sunday evening. "We're undefeated, but we tied another school (Clovis West). My season has been kinda boring actually. No one throws to my side, but I've made up for things by supporting against the run.

"I have three fumble recovers and three forced fumbles and like 40 tackles or close to that. I've got to help my team however I can."

Three weeks ago, Golden was in Eugene for Oregon's game against California and came away impressed.

"I was real impressed with Oregon," Golden told Scout's Brandon Huffman. "I really clicked with the coaches on my trip."

"I was really impressed with the defense first and I talked to Coach (Mike) Bellotti, Coach (Gary) Campbell, and Coach (John) Neal. They are all really cool."

Golden said he's now turning his attention to another school -- Washington -- up north and that his relationship with the man who would be his position coach and the city are what really is vaulting them to the top of his list of interests.

"J.D. Williams and I have known each other for a long time, basically since he was at Cal," Golden said. "He and my coach at Edison have a great relationship and I feel real comfortable with him as a coach.

"Seattle is a really nice area too. I went up there with my family for a vacation a few years ago and I loved it up there. The air is so clean and the water and mountains are really cool. It's a lot different than Fresno."

Golden expects to visit Washington the weekend of December 7th, but continued to maintain that he's still committed to Arizona for the time being.

"I committed to them because they're a good school and the coaches are really defensively focused, but things can change and I started thinking about things and that I should take a couple visits before I really firm everything up," Golden added.

Oregon State is another school that may get a visit from Golden before he makes is final decision.

We'll have more from Golden in the coming weeks.
