Floyd gets Husky offer

Washington is in the hunt for a number of wide receivers in the 2008 recruiting class and one that has become a priority for the Dawgs is Crenshaw's Clint Floyd. The playmaking athlete who lines up at five different positions for the Cougars spoke recently about his season and where recruiting stands at the midway point of his senior season.

"We're 2-0 in our league, but we're 3-4 overall," Floyd told Dawgman.com on Sunday morning. "I've got over 800 yards of total offense, but I line up in the slot, at wide receiver, at quarterback, at running back and then I play DB on defense."

Floyd got a call from Washington's running backs coach Trent Miles last week and he got some good news during their phone conversation.

"We talk all the time, but this time when he called me he said I had an offer and they would be sending it in mail so I'm just waiting on getting that one," Floyd said. "It's real cool to get an offer from them because they are one of my top schools and it's my second one (Arizona State has already offered) so that means I will have some options on where I want to go.

"They lose five or six receivers after this year and I know I would have a chance to come in and play early there if I earned the time. Basically it's all on me on whether I play or not. It's not like they will have a lot of guys with experience that I will be competing against."

With his offers from the Huskies and Sun Devils, the other schools on Floyd's list are UCLA, Oregon and Nevada.

"UCLA is my hometown school and they've picked things up a bit with me," Floyd said. "I went to their game against Washington a few weeks back and they said they are looking at me now.

"Oregon and Nevada have started to turn it on too and they said they want me to visit and that they've been watching my progress this season and how I'm doing."

No dates have been set by Floyd for a visit to any school, but he said he plans to make all his visits after his season.

We'll have more from Floyd in the coming weeks as he begins to firm up those visit dates.
