Wong hot on three

Blake Wong is a 6-1, 190-pound linebacker/safety prospect from Honolulu (Hawaii) Iolani and Wong has been doing his part to take over a leadership role as a senior. And to hear Wong talk about it, it's not as easy as it looks.

"We're doing alright," Wong told Dawgman.com. "We're just trying to pull everything together. There are only 12 seniors on the team. It's a lot of work being a leader, but it's fun too. It pays off."

Iolani recently lost 7-6 to Punahou, but Blake noted that they can get them back later in the year. "We're long-time rivals," he said. "It was a non-league game. We play them in a league game later in the year." Wong mentioned Iolani's junior running back, Ray Stowers, who had just run for 260 yards a couple of weeks ago against Pac-5.

Nevada came by to see Blake last Friday, Washington Coach Bobby Kennedy saw Blake when Iolani defeated Damien in their first game and Steve Greatwood from Oregon saw him at the Punahou game. He doesn't have any firm offers at this point. "I don't have any trips set up but I would like to take them as soon as possible," he said.

Wong is mainly looking at Oregon, Washington and Colorado. Here are his thoughts on his leaders.

Oregon - "Coach Greatwood is a great coach. Other than that, I don't know that much about Oregon, other than they have lots of trees." (laughs)
Washington - "Donny (Mateaki) called me an hour ago. He loves it up there and said that they love football players at Washington. He's given me the best review about a school so far."
Colorado - "I've been there skiing before and I'm going back in December. I love it there. I love the outdoors."
