Moss commitment imminent?

It's been a hectic day for Durrell Moss, the 6-1, 185-pound running back from Orange, California. Ever since late last night when a report surfaced about his decision to attend Washington, Moss has had to do a little damage control. He may have made up his own mind about it, but at the same time he hasn't passed it along just yet.

"Yeah, I've made a decision but I haven't committed yet," Moss told tonight about his anticipated verbal commitment to the University of Washington. "People have the story kind of spun around a little bit. I need to still talk to my Mom. I have it in my mind that I want to go to Washington, but until I really talk to my Mom I'm not committed yet."

The craziness started when Moss sat down with his high school football coach, Greg Gibson. Gibson and Moss had talked about his plan to make a commitment, but there's still one piece of the puzzle that's missing for that commitment to be complete. "I got to school and my coach is telling me that everyone is calling saying I made a commitment to Washington," Durrell said. "I told him that I left a message for Coach Neuheisel, but I didn't tell him I was committing, just that I needed to talk to him. To me there's a difference between committing and making a decision, you know? If I was committed I would have already talked to Coach Neuheisel and told him. But I have my mind made up that I want to go to Washington, but I haven't committed yet."

Durrell made it clear that he doesn't want people to think he's a Husky just yet. "I don't want it to sound like I've committed, just that I've made my own decision about it," he said. "I know that will probably sound kind of dumb, but that's how it is until I've talked to my Mom."

While it looks like just a formality at this point, it does appear that the report having Moss in purple and gold last night was premature. It might be a day or two away, but we still believe Durrell will be a Dawg when it's all said and done.
