Baker a Buckeye to be?

Sam Baker is a 6-5, 285-pound lineman from Tustin, California and Baker and the Tillers just lost a hard-fought 17-0 slugfest with Mission Viejo. Baker would love the wins right now, but he's getting some pretty nice consolation prizes in the form of scholarship offers. And the school that's coming on the strongest? They aren't on the West Coast.

"We just couldn't get anything together on offense," Baker said about Tustin's loss to the Diablos. "Our defense played really well. I was really impressed with our defense." Sam singled two MV players out. "Chris Cole, he was really good. Drew Radovich looks really big and moves well for his size. I didn't get a chance to go up against him."

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the latest suitor to step up and they are putting the heat on. "Ohio State offered and I'm really big on them right now," said Sam. "SC is there and so is Florida too. My best friend - his mom, brother and sister all went to Ohio State and they are always telling me about them. It just picked up. The Head Coach (Jim Tressel) has been calling a lot."

While the Huskies aren't in the driver's seat for Baker, they're still in the car. "Yeah, I'm still interested in Washington," he said. Sam already has visits to tOSU (12/6), Oregon (12/13) and Florida (1/24). "Probably Washington too, actually. I haven't talked to them about it though, but I'll see."
