Durrell Moss to Washington

Durrell Moss is a 6-0, 185-pound running back from Orange, California, and the last time we spoke with Durrell he was in the process of finalizing his decision to attend the University of Washington. All that was needed was some time with his Mother to make sure they were on the same page and then a call to Head Coach Rick Neuheisel to seal the deal. Late Wednesday night, the call was made and the decision was set - Moss is a Dawg.

"I'm going there now," Durrell told Dawgman.com tonight. "I committed to him (Neuheisel). He sounded happy. He said I love to coach guys like you and get ready to win Rose Bowls, stuff like that." Washington is recruiting Moss as an athlete. "It's fine," he said, although his position of choice is running back, where he has gained 893 yards on 126 carries so far in 5 games, 10 of those carries going for scores.

His conversation with his Mother was short and sweet. "She was totally cool with it," Durrell said. "I needed to get the final words in, just to be sure. It's a relief."

Today was a lot different than yesterday. "It was a normal day," he said. "Not as many people were calling Coach (Gibson), asking about me. I just feel better now. Last night so many people called my house until I committed." Durrell went Thursday to the Tustin-El Modena game. There he saw the Tillers' Chris Barrett and Sam Baker. "They are men," was Moss' observation of Tustin's two D1 prospects.

Durrell can't wait to get up to Montlake and start his collegiate career. "It's like, they don't even have the biggest stadium, but so many people want tickets for the games," he said. "There's so much dedication there and tradition...it's amazing."

Moss wears the number 5. "It's my number, but (Zach) Tuiasosopo wears it, so I don't know what I'm going to do," Durrell said.
